Small but powerful impact driver
By the standards of impact screwdrivers, the Makita DTD157Z looks like a small and, one might say, elegant tool. The compact dimensions of the case (only 133 mm in length and 54 mm in diameter in the part where the motor is located) allow you to work in places where there is no room to turn around, and the low weight (0.85 kg excluding battery) reduces the load on your hands when working overhead. Two speeds plus automatic mode
The electronic “brains” that control the operation of the brushless motor also protect it from overloads, “squeeze” the maximum out of the battery charge and allow you to configure the tool for different operating modes. It is thanks to the electronic control that it is possible to select one of two speeds: on the first, the cartridge rotates at a frequency of 1300 rpm (2000 beats/min), on the second - 3000 rpm (4100 beats/min). The first speed is designated Soft; it is designed to work with small fasteners or soft materials. The second is designated Hard - it corresponds to the maximum torque (140 Nm), which allows you to work with large fasteners. In addition to two speeds, the tool has an “automatic mode”, in which the screwdriver itself determines with what force to tighten the fasteners. It works this way: at first the cartridge rotates slowly and without impact, and then, as the resistance increases, the impact is activated, and the tool rotates the fastener at maximum speed. This mode is best suited for tightening long self-tapping screws, because it allows you to avoid “wobbling” at the beginning of screwing, and then quickly drive the screw all the way into the wood. Modes are switched using a button at the base of the handle.
