The cordless impact wrench is designed to work with bolts and nuts ranging in size from M8 to M16. The tool is equipped with an efficient brushless motor, which has a brake for quick chuck stop (in 0.2 seconds) and an electronic overload protection system. The Makita DTW180Z impact wrench's chuck is size 3/8". The tool has two operating modes: at the first speed (1300 RPM), the torque reaches 65 Nm, while at the second speed (2400 RPM), bolts and nuts are tightened with a force of 180 Nm.

In reverse mode (for loosening seized fasteners), the force can reach 310 Nm. Such a high torque is achieved thanks to the presence of a tangential impact mechanism. For working in low light conditions, the tool features a built-in LED light. This configuration is supplied without a battery or charger. The impact wrench requires a lithium-ion battery from the Makita 18V LXT series for operation.
