The simplified version of the Moto G5 Plus smartphone differs from its older brother on many fronts. So, instead of a metal shell, the device is enclosed in a plastic “wrapper”, the hardware of the gadget is built on the basis of a less performant Snapdragon 435 chip with 2/16 GB of memory, and its camera received a different matrix – not so advanced for shooting in low light conditions. At the same time, Motorola Moto G5 Dual SIM does not lag behind in terms of performance and does not lag behind peers in terms of photo and video shooting, and thanks to software optimization, it is even better than ordinary mid-range smartphones in some ways. As an OS, the gadget uses an almost “bare” Android 7.0 interface, which has a positive effect on responsiveness and battery life on a single charge...of the built-in 2800 mAh battery. And the best part is that the slots for two SIM and memory cards on board the smartphone are separate, which does not force you to opt for one or the other solution.

Why do smartphones start to slow down and what amount of RAM is now considered optimal?Let's explore the reasons for the slowdown and the optimal amount of RAM for smartphones

A new beginning

Let's start with the fact that the American company Motorola no longer develops smartphones on its own, nor does it under the patronage of Google. Today, the Moto brand is owned by Lenovo. However, there is nothing to be ashamed of, because Lenovo already has a successful experience of "resurrection" of the American laptop brand Thinkpad, formerly owned by IBM. So, the brand new smartphone Moto G5 is a simplified version of the Moto G5 Plus.

poor relative

But there were too many simplifications. It would be nice if only the processor power (Snapdragon 435 instead of 625) and the amount of memory (2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of permanent instead of 3/32 GB) went under the knife. So also the metal of the body was replaced with plastic. Fortunately, at least the screen was not simplified (still the same FullHD IPS), and taking into account the reduction in diagonal, the PPI indicator even increased. A fingerprint sensor is located below, and it, unlike Meizu smartphones, does not perform the function of a menu button.

Able to surprise

The size of the camera matrix, compared to the G5 Plus, has also decreased, but thanks to good software optimization, the G5 takes better pictures than most of its classmates. A clean, devoid of any extraneous graphical shell version of Android 7.0 (now this is a rarity) has a positive effect both on the speed of the smartphone in conditions of limited processor power and RAM, and on battery life with a relatively small battery capacity (2800 mAh). Those who need smartphone performance in daily tasks, and not in games, will definitely not be disappointed. In addition, separate slots for SIM-cards and microSD will be a nice bonus.
