MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER VENTUS GP OC
Videos 1Photos 5 | Outdated Product £499.99 High-performance mid-range gaming graphics card with a high-performance branded dual-slot cooling system based on 4 heat pipes and factory overclocking. It is positioned as a product of the middle price category designed to create high-speed gaming systems designed for operation with FullHD or WQHD resolution monitors. Among the undoubted advantages of this model, it is worth mentioning the full support for Real-Time Ray Tracing rendering, which provides a fundamentally new level of quality for lighting game scenes. The advanced Deep Learning Super-Sampling smoothing method gives excellent results without a significant performance drop. Like its predecessor, the RTX 2060, the MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER VENTUS GP OC features an Nvidia TU106 GPU, but in this case, the GPU has 13.3% more acti...ve unified shaders, texture units, and tensor cores. The memory subsystem has also undergone a significant improvement, having received an additional 2 GB GDDR6 with an increased bus width (up to 256 bits). Such a hardware platform allows this model to compete with AMD's 2019 Radeon RX 5700 video adapter. |

Quiet and powerful
Among the pack of different variations of the RTX 2060S from MSI, this card is positioned as the "golden mean", taking place behind the fancy RTX 2060 SUPER GAMING. It has lower stock frequencies, a simpler circuit board, and fans are not surrounded by RGB ribbons. Given the significant difference in price, this is more of a plus than a minus. The factory overclock is slightly lower, however, a small difference can be covered manually. You should not count on miracles due to the TDP limit in the BIOS. But it will not buzz even under heavy load. MSI engineers did a good job of refining the direct-contact Cooling system base, branded TORX Fan 2.0 fans and thermal paste.
Not 4K, but 2K will do
Based on the combination of performance, cost and functionality, MSI's VENTUS looks like the best option. We will not talk about “comfortable 4K”, this is not here. However, thanks to the high performance and 8 GB of memory in many modern games with good optimization (for example, Gears of War 5 and Far Cry: New Dawn), you can get a comfortable frame rate at 2K resolution and mixed ultra-high graphics settings. It is worth mentioning hardware ray tracing, but to be honest, since the announcement of this technology, not many games have come out that exploit it to the fullest.
8 GB VRAM
Now let's talk a little about the 2060S in general. Interestingly, if inexpensive cards with the SUPER prefix turned out really great, then the higher we climb, the less performance gain we get. Yes, yes, again this is the Pareto distribution rule. If we compare the RTX 2060 SUPER with the regular RTX 2060, then the difference in power will not exceed 6-7%. But due to the fact that the regular RTX 2060 is no longer the first guy in the village, prices have gradually decreased and sometimes you can find very tempting options in stores like the EVGA RTX 2060, which will cost almost 20% less than the SUPER version. But, at the same time, instead of 8 GB of video memory, it will only have 6 GB, which can come out sideways when playing at 2K resolution.
