It seems that Nokia has found an effective way to attract attention. To coincide with its return to the big market in 2017, it timed a remake of the hit model Nokia 3310, and a year later, as part of the MWC-2018 exhibition, the legendary “bananaphone” from the film “The Matrix” was shown to the public in a modern guise.
The continuity of generations
The device wears a bright yellow “suit” with a curved body and a retractable slider, under which a mechanical keyboard is hidden(there is also an authentic black version of the phone). There is no mechanism for unfolding the lid in the design of the model, so this simple procedure will need to be done manually. But the slider allows you to effectively answer a call or end a conversation, which will undoubtedly be appreciated by others.
Almost a smartphone
The name and similar features in appearance are the only things that unite the modern device with the legendary 8110. After all , “under the hood” the mobile gadget has a completely modern “filling” installed, which allows the model to be classified as a smartphone. The “bananaphone” runs under the KaiOS operating system (a spin-off of the FirefoxOS system), and is “conducted” by the entry-level Snapdragon 205 chip. Out of the box, the phone comes with pre-installed Google services (including maps and the Google Assistant voice assistant ), and in the application store the user has the right to download clients for social networks, messengers and simple programs.
Access point
The Nokia 8110 4G still cannot be called a full-fledged smartphone. Firstly, you will need to get used to handling it due to the non-touch display, and secondly, such a label simply cannot be attached to the phone due to the form factor of the model. As a result, the mobile device will perform well as an additional “handset”, and will also be useful for distribution to other Internet devices - the implementation of this opportunity is facilitated by support for working in 4G networks and a Wi-Fi module in the communication arsenal of the model.
