Video reviews

What kind of optics is not available for a series of cropped Olympus and Panasonic mirrorless cameras with a Micro 4/3 format sensor. One of the most outstanding specimens is the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm f/1.7 ASPH universal zoom lens with a record constant f/1.7 aperture.

Universal zoom

In terms of the equivalent of a full frame, the lens shoots within focal lengths from 20 mm to 50 mm. This means that it is suitable for the most diverse subjects in the genre of photography — from well-developed landscape to portrait photography with spectacular background blur. Also, the model will appeal to videographers who prefer it for the stepless movement of the aperture ring, nimble and silent autofocus.

Top grade

As befits top-class lenses, the model is assembled in a housing with dust and water protection. In an atypical way, it implements switching from manual focus to automatic focus — it is carried out by moving the focus ring back and forth. During the filming process, you can completely rely on the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm f/1.7 ASPH automation — the autofocus of the model catches the shooting object without misses, and the f/1.7 aperture is quite working for the lens. The only thing is that in the wide-angle position at an open aperture closer to the edges of the frame, an insignificant drop in detail can be traced.

Reasonable compromise

It seems possible to put filters with a diameter of 77 mm on the front lens of the lens. In general, the model provides a reasonable compromise between size, weight, capabilities and image quality. Of course, I would like to see the price tag for it more democratic, but it’s not a sin to pay a tidy sum for the unique properties of the lens.
