TOSLINK or Optical Cable is a fiber optic connection system. Most commonly used with audio equipment (via a "digital optical" socket) where it carries a digital audio stream from devices such as CD DVD Blu-Ray players and modern video game consoles to an AV receiver such as surround sound system that can decode the stream of audio and output it through a set of loudspeakers.
Since TOSLINK uses fibre-optic cable it is free from distortion caused by electrical or magnetic interference that an electrical cable would incur.

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a specification that combines video and audio into a single digital interface for use with DVD players, digital television (DTV) players, set-top boxes, and other audiovisual devices. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video plus standard to multi-channel surround-sound audio. High Speed with Ethernet supports up to 1080p and beyond with a built in Ethernet channel. Gold flashed contacts provide a higher quality finish while providing anti-corrosive properties.

The CDLHD4-MICRO series has a Micro (Type D) connector that was introduced with HDMI v1.4. It keeps the standard 19 pins used in the Type A connector but shrinks it down to 2.8mm x 6.4mm. The Micro connector is to be used on mobile phones and other similar portable devices. The other side of the cable has a standard Type A connector for connecting to TVs and projectors etc.. The term HDMI v1.4 is no longer used and instead is referred to as High Speed with Ethernet.
