microUSB is one of the most popular universal connectors for portable gadgets; only recently it began to be gradually replaced by a more advanced USB-C. Lightning, in turn, is a universal branded connector for Apple pocket equipment (since 2012). Actually, most accessories of this type are adapters for connecting accessories under the microUSB connector to "apple" devices and, accordingly, have a microUSB jack on the one hand, and a Lightning plug on the other. However, there are also cables — with plugs on both sides. They are used to connect Apple gadgets to various external devices with microUSB inputs; examples of such devices include some ultra-compact laptops, as well as advanced digital-to-analogue converters to improve the quality of the reproduced sound.
