— an accessory featuring a USB-C connector on one side and a 3.5 mm mini-jack on the other.USB-C is a type of USB connector that appeared relatively recently but is increasingly used in modern electronics, particularly in mobile gadgets. In these devices, it effectively represents the evolution and enhancement of microUSB: the USB-C connector has a more convenient reversible design and is better suited for fast charging applications and some other advanced functions. In turn, the 3.5 mm mini-jack is the most popular modern audio connector, and most headphones and speakers for portable devices are designed for it.
Essentially, devices of this format are usually adapters (see "Type"), designed for connecting headphones and speakers with a mini-jack plug to a USB-C connector, and accordingly have a USB plug and a 3.5 mm socket. The emergence of such accessories is associated with the fact that some smartphones and tablets have manufacturers starting to omit a separate 3.5 mm socket, providing headphone connectivity exclusively via USB-C (for various reasons – compactness, protection, simplification of design, etc.). It should be noted that not every adapter of this type can correctly work with a headset combining headphones and a microphone; therefore, it is advisable to check its functionality before purchasing such an accessory for a headset. However, there are usually no issues with traditional headphones (without a microphone).
