— the second edition of the MagSafe connector came into use in 2012 in Apple laptops, and its mass introduction in MacBooks lasted until about 2017. MagSafe 2 has a T-shape, but compared to the first version it is slightly thinner and wider, which is why there is no compatibility between generations. A distinctive feature of the connector is a magnetic mechanism that allows you to easily connect and disconnect the charging cable from the laptop socket. This provides additional passive protection - if the cable is pulled, the connector can be disconnected without damaging the laptop and charging socket.
