The categorical statement that the gaming keyboard should be mechanical has dominated the information field in recent years. Fast response, soft pressing, pleasant tactile feedback and durability are just some of the advantages of "mechanics" over classic membrane keyboards. At the same time, many people forget about the reverse side of the coin ― not everyone likes the high height of the keys, loud clicks can irritate home, and prices for mechanical keyboards almost always bite. Razer engineers tried to solve this problem with Razer Ornata hybrid keyboards.
The peculiarity of the Ornata series is the use of a hybrid key mechanism with membrane-mechanical switches. Actually, they are called Razer Mecha-Membrane Switches. The use of such an unusual solution allowed the developers to maintain high accuracy and response of mechanical switches with tactile feedback and a quiet click of "membranes". On paper, it turned out to be a compromise option, either for gamers who print a lot, or for writers who know how to distribute headshots in CS:GO.
The model range of this series includes two numbered versions of the Ornata keyboard, as well as several specialized modifications. The first version was announced in 2016. A few months later, a slightly more expensive Ornata Chroma modification landed on the shelves, with which the company's engineers screwed the RGB backlight. 4 years later, Razer announced the second version of Ornata with a modified illumination, N-key roll over and a more comfortable armrest, which reduces the load on the hands during a work or gaming session.
