HBM

— fundamentally new kind of graphics memory, notable primarily for its combination of extremely high bandwidth with a relatively low clock speed. This ensures high speed (significantly faster than GDDR5, not to mention earlier standards) with low power consumption and minimal heat. In addition, HBM modules are much more compact. On the other hand, they are very difficult to manufacture, which is why they are expensive and are used mainly in top-end graphics cards.
