Gamepads with sticks
Sticks
— the presence of at least one stick in the design of the manipulator. This equipment is a kind of “miniature joysticks” – small levers that can deviate in any direction within 360°. Moreover, unlike the D-Pads (see the relevant paragraph), the analogue stick does not have fixed positions. With the help of such devices, in particular, it is convenient to control the sight or camera, as well as the movement of the character in some genres of games.
The specific features of the sticks may vary. Thus, they are an almost mandatory feature for gamepads (see “Device”); in this case, there are usually two sticks (exceptions are found only in certain smartphone models), and their location can be different (for more details, see the list “Analogue sticks” below). By definition, arcade controllers have a stick, but only one. This feature is also quite popular in virtual reality weapons and motion controllers; but in steering wheels it is extremely rare – mainly among advanced models.
