This level provides protection against water jets of medium intensity, falling on the device from any direction. Thus, these headphones are able to endure quite a downpour with the wind and even a stay in the shower (though not for long and without strong pressure). Of course, they are not suitable for swimming, let alone diving, but such protection is quite enough for rowing and other similar water sports, not to mention “land” activities.

Note that instead of the letter X in the marking of such headphones, there may be another number describing the resistance to dust and foreign objects. Moisture resistance level 5 in modern headphones can be combined with dust resistance level 4 (protection against objects with a thickness of 1 mm) to 6 (complete isolation of the housing from dust). Specifically, the designation with the letter X (IPX5) means that this model has not been tested for dust resistance and has been certified only for moisture resistance.
