Round braided cable

— round wire (see the relevant paragraph), supplemented with an outer braid — usually fabric. This design provides a number of advantages over the classic wire in "bare" insulation. Thus, the cable is more durable, reliable and resistant to bending and pressures, less tangled, has a solid appearance, and in some models, the braid also provides shielding from external interference. The reverse side of these advantages is the increased price.
