The BioniX family from the German manufacturer ARCTIC includes exclusively replaceable case fans designed for additional cooling of computer hardware. They can be useful in cases where the purchased case does not have its own cooling system or when its efficiency leaves much to be desired. Also, such cooling systems are aimed at overclocking fans, for whom a difference in heating of a couple of degrees can play a decisive role when trying to output a couple of hundred megahertz from the processor and video card.
The range of the BioniX series equally includes case fans with a diameter of 120 and 140 millimeters. The maximum fan speed in most cases is in the range from 1800 to 2100 rpm. The minimum is most often 200 rpm. Visual differences, as a rule, lie in the number and shape of the blades, color design and optional support for RGB/ARGB backlighting. Most fans in the BioniX series are sold individually, but occasionally kits like the ARCTIC BioniX P120 are on sale, which include 3 ARGB coolers and a controller for controlling the backlight.
ARCTIC boasts that for the updated BioniX line they have completely redesigned the motors and bearings, in the latter case using a new combination of metal alloy and bearing lubricant. According to the manufacturer, the modified engine significantly reduces vibration levels, which leads to more stable torque and smoother switching of the magnetic field. And reducing the temperature of the motor coil by 10 °C doubles the service life of the fan, so instead of the standard three-year warranty, the manufacturer provides warranty service for 6 years.
