Knives with leather handles

Leather

— the leather handle is valued for its ergonomics and control: ribbed or molded leather provides a secure grip, works well with gloves, absorbs micro-vibrations when carving, and doesn't get icy in the cold. Leather feels warmer and "more alive" than aluminum or carbon, but it requires maintenance and can swell or become slippery in wet dirt if the treatment is compromised. Modern treatments partially address this, but for resistance to chemicals and water, G10/nylon is more reliable. Leather is the choice for hiking, hunting, and "classic" field knives, where comfort and cutting control are important; for rescue and workshop tasks with constant dirt, oil, and detergents, composites are better. Regular application of treatment and careful drying extend the lifespan of the leather handle and maintain its appearance.
