DTS X

— a decoder that appeared as DTS's answer to Dolby Atmos technology (see the relevant paragraph). It works on the same principle: in the original signal, the sound is not divided into channels, but into audio objects, for each of which position, movement and volume are prescribed. And the reproducing equipment (for example, an AV receiver) “thinks” on its own how to distribute the sound over the available channels in order to achieve the effect specified in the signal. DTS X, unlike Dolby Atmos, has no speaker configuration requirements and allows you to separately adjust the dialogue volume; at the same time, for a number of reasons, this decoder is less common.
