— the abbreviation SLC stands for "Single Level Cell"; this means that only 1 bit of information can be stored in each hardware cell of such memory. This gives a number of advantages over MLC — in particular, durability, a minimum of errors and a high write speed. On the other hand, with an equal volume, such drives are significantly more expensive.
