Magnetic mount

— magnetic mounting is found in compact external models and means that the SSD case can be quickly secured to a metal surface or a special mounting plate (such as on a laptop lid, a rack, or a camera cage) to prevent the drive from dangling on the cable and falling during recording or copying. This is especially useful in mobile scenarios: compared to straps, Velcro, and clips, a magnet is usually faster to put on and take off, but it requires sufficient adhesion and a flat surface, as well as careful handling of cable tension to avoid overloading the connector. It's worth mentioning MagSafe separately: the presence of a MagSafe magnetic ring allows for attachment directly to an iPhone, which is popular for shooting video on a smartphone with recording to an external SSD; here, it's important for the phone to support MagSafe, and for "direct" recording, an iPhone with USB-C is often needed. Usage examples are simple: fix the SSD on a laptop for easy copying of large files on the go, attach the drive to a smartphone for shooting long videos without the risk of it detaching, or secure the SSD on a tripod/rig so the cable doesn't interfere with work.
