Portable drives from Apacer are designed for people who spend a lot of time on the road. Therefore, the emphasis in their production is not on the use of flagship controllers or supersonic speeds, but on convenience and reliability. Representatives of this line are usually enclosed in strong, scratch-resistant metal cases with reinforced metal supports inside. All have gone through a hell of a week of endurance testing and received the coveted MIL-STD-810G military certifications, which guarantee the safety of data on the drive from accidental bumps and drops.

In the few years that the Portable series has existed, Apacer has released literally half a dozen drives, most of which are no longer for sale. And all because in 2021, the outdated models were replaced by the new AS721 and AS722, which meet all the requirements of modern portable SSDs. They are built on durable 3D TLC NAND memory, equipped with smart memory controllers, boast decent uptime, and use USB-C ports for communication.

The difference between the mentioned models is the use of a high-speed NVMe interface. As a result, Apacer Portable drives without it are limited to operating speeds within 530 MB / s, while versions with NVMe can be overclocked to 1000 MB / s and higher. Otherwise, these are almost identical drives with similar design, functionality and storage capacities (note: usually 200, 500 and 1000 GB).
