The PD family from Taiwanese brand Team Group includes convenient, compact and not too expensive portable SSD drives for artists, designers, coders, entrepreneurs and other people who often work on the road or have to regularly move large archives of data from place to place. All members of the PD family are packaged in quite stylish, neat and compact armor. Often the metal case complies with the industry standard MIL-STD-810G, and all elements of the case are filled with a dense layer of rubber or silicone so that dust and moisture do not accidentally get inside. At the same time, the manufacturer strives to minimize the dimensions of the drive and its weight so that it can easily fit even in a small shirt pocket.

Most drives from the PD family use standard 3D TLC NAND flash memory and proven, but not too expensive, controllers. As a result, entry-level models like the PD400 match the numbers of classic SATA3 SSDs, plus or minus, handling data at speeds of 420 – 430 MB/s. At the same time, more modern PD1000-level drives can accelerate to 1000 MB/s. In principle, for situations where you need to quickly copy some kind of data archive, this speed is enough, but for everything else there are specialized models with support for PCI-E 4.0 and Thunderbolt.

Thanks to exFAT formatting, most Team Group PD drives are recognized out of the box by all popular operating systems (example: Android, Mac OS and Windows) without the need to install drivers or supporting software. To increase compatibility, the manufacturer usually bundles each PD drive with several USB cables for connecting to different devices. The choice of volumes ranges from 250 to 1000 GB.
