— bodies that more or less resemble rectangles. In addition to the actual rectangular and square devices, this category also includes gadgets that are close to oval in shape — with rounded edges on the short sides.

The most popular rectangular shape is used among fitness trackers. Such a gadget should be as convenient and invisible as possible when moving, so in most models the case is made elongated: its width does not exceed (or very slightly exceeds) the width of the strap, while the relatively large length houses the hardware and the display. But in smartwatches and watch phones (see "Type"), mainly square or close-to-square cases are used. At the same time, there are noticeably fewer rectangular smartwatches than round ones (for more details, see "round"), but with watch phones, the situation is reversed — with the same overall dimensions, a rectangular display is able to display more information

In addition, most children's smartwatches are made rectangular. This is also due to convenience and safety considerations: it is easier for a small child to press the side button on a rectangular device. This can be especially important in emergency situations when you need to quickly contact parents or sound an alarm.
