The need for "left-handed" instruments is due to the fact that electric guitars have an asymmetric design — even with a symmetrical body, the location of additional elements (volume / tone controls, tremolo lever, etc.) will still be designed for a certain hand. Accordingly, playing a “right-handed” instrument with a reverse grip will be inconvenient at best. There are relatively few left-handers among guitarists, so such models are rare.
