Coaxial S/P-DIF

Thus, the externally coaxial cable S / P-DIF is almost identical to the cable "RCA — RCA", however, it has a more powerful shielding, because. a dense digital data stream is more susceptible to interference than analogue audio. Therefore, these cables cannot be called interchangeable: a digital signal can be significantly degraded when transmitted via a conventional “RCA — RCA”, and the S / P-DIF wire is expensive, and it makes sense to use it in an analogue connection only as a fallback.

There is another kind of SP-DIF — optical. For more information about it, see the relevant paragraph, here we note that the coaxial cable is not so fragile and delicate, however, even the highest quality shielding does not give a full guarantee against interference.
