Lightning (8 pin) is a proprietary connector used in Apple portable devices — in particular, the iPhone and iPad. A 3.5 mm mini-Jack is the most popular modern audio jack; most headphones and speakers for portable equipment are designed for it. "Lightning — 3.5 mm" format devices are usually adapters (see "Type") for connecting "ears" and speakers with a mini-Jack plug to a Lightning connector. The need for such adapters arose due to the fact that since 2016 Apple has abandoned 3.5 mm jacks in the iPhone, and in the future this approach is planned to be applied to other "apple" gadgets.
