While nickel is the cheapest, it can irritate people with sensitive skin who are prone to allergic reactions. However, manufacturers from post-Soviet countries “sin” with such compositions, and even then they are gradually moving away from this practice; in the West, white gold with the addition of nickel is practically not used.

White gold is often plated with rhodium. It improves the appearance of the product, but wears off over time, such a coating may need to be updated.
