— in this case, quartz usually refers to transparent varieties of this material (agate and onyx are also a variety of quartz, but due to their specific appearance, they are usually placed in separate categories). Quartz can have any colour, blue and green shades are very popular, "mystic quartz" — artificial stones with an "iridescent" colour, achieved through a specific composition and coating, as well as darkened ("smoky") quartz. However, the latter is often distinguished into a separate category — rauchtopaz (see the relevant paragraph).

In general, this stone is inexpensive, but it can look quite bright.
