— pure gold is not used in jewelry — not so much because of the high cost, but because of the softness and other features that make it difficult to wear jewelry. Therefore, the word "gold" in this case means a certain jewelry alloy based on this metal. Such alloys are more expensive than silver, but this is not so much a disadvantage as a feature: gold has long been a sign of wealth, and even now the ability to pay a lot for gold jewelry is a good indicator of status.Jewelry gold can vary in fineness (pure metal content in the alloy). A higher grade makes the alloy brighter and shinier, allowing it to retain that luster longer; on the other hand, the product is softer and more prone to scratches. Therefore, the most popular are the "medium" samples — 585 and 750, containing respectively 58.5% and 75% pure gold.
