Emerald

— one of the most expensive stones used in jewelry; belongs to the same category as ruby, sapphire and diamond. Natural emerald, in principle, cannot be cheap. At the same time, an artificial analogue of such stones is produced, with a much lower cost. Synthetic emerald can be almost indistinguishable from natural, but in most cases it has a bluish tint (natural stone is pure green) and gives less iridescent reflections (due to the lower refractive index).
