Sapphire rings
Sapphire
— a precious gemstone that originally had a fairly high cost—even today, natural sapphire is categorized alongside diamond. In terms of chemical composition, it is a variety of corundum, similar to ruby. In fact, these two types of minerals are distinguished solely by color: violet-red corundums are classified as rubies, while all other colors are considered sapphires. The classic color of this mineral is blue; colorless stones (leucosapphires) are also quite common. It is worth noting that modern technologies allow for the artificial production of sapphires, and in quite substantial volumes. Synthetic (hydrothermal) sapphires look no worse than natural ones, yet they are significantly cheaper (a considerable part of the cost of natural stones is related to their origin).
