Professional-grade over-ear monitor headphones with a detachable cable and a convenient folding design. Positioned as the top mid-range product of 2019. Designed to control and monitor sound when working in small home and full-fledged professional studios. They are distinguished by a relatively flat frequency response, which contributes to the reproduction of the original sound without significant accents in the bass or high-frequency region.
Equipped with 50 mm dynamic transducers with special membranes (titanium coating) and oxygen-free copper voice coils. Provide high detail and bright sound of vocal parts. Due to moderate impedance resistance, they are able to fully work with portable players and other mobile gadgets (smartphones, tablets). Perfectly cope with playing music tracks of all directions and genres. The AKG K371 headphones feature a durable design with a resilient headband and swiveling oval ear cups with wide ear cups. They easily adapt to the anatomical features of the user's head and create an optimal clamping force for good passive noise isolation. To connect to a signal source, they are equipped with three cables (straight — 1.2 and 3 m, twisted — 3 m) with a 3-pin mini-Jack 3.5mm connector and an adapter for 3-pin Jack 6.35mm (with threaded fixation).

+ High-quality, detailed sound + Attractive, minimalist appearance + Tactilely pleasant materials + Comfortable to use with glasses + Large battery capacity + High sensitivity allows use without an additional amplifier, even with a smartphone. Plenty of volume, whether via Bluetooth or wired. With a separate sound card on a PC, 6% volume is sufficient when wired! - Adjustment design that lacks confidence in durability Nuances that are not drawbacks for me: -/+ The folding mechanism is not convenient for frequent use, I don't use it at home. It won't fold quickly; you first need to lower the ear cups as much as possible, then rotate each one separately. This type of mechanism is designed for professional audio work, allowing one ear to be turned outward to hear the surrounding environment. -/+ XLR connector on the headphones. If the cable gets damaged, it will cost a bit more than a 2.5 or 3.5 connector. -/+ Micro USB port for charging. Most gadgets are already using type C. -/+ Lack of active noise cancellation. This is more of a plus because the sound quality deteriorates with this feature turned on. I’d rather the manufacturer spend the budget on the drivers than on a function that is useless to me. The passive noise isolation is enough for use near a coffee grinder, and that’s sufficient for me. -/+ Touch controls. I would prefer physical buttons. Got used to it within a day. -/+ Fabric case, no separate case for cords. The case is high quality, but you can't put the headphones in a packed backpack. -/+ Lack of water resistance. Not critical. -/+ SBC and AAC codecs. I don't see any issues with the absence of aptX, LDAC. Don’t fall for marketing; codecs alone do not provide sound quality. The diaphragm, drivers, and the combination of all components matter much more. Having LDAC does not guarantee good sound, while SBC can deliver high quality. |
The sound is top-notch. I've listened to a bunch in the store, including more expensive ones, and personally didn't find anything more pleasant for myself. I got them for more home use, but with the option to take them with me occasionally and listen wirelessly on the go, when I’m not in the mood for in-ear headphones. As a result, I use them more at home via Bluetooth because it's very convenient for watching movies/YouTube. I mainly use the cable when I forget to charge them or with the phone/player for music, since I don't have a sound card for the computer. But listening to music on them via BT, it's different; the detail they can achieve is immediately lost (don’t get me wrong, it still sounds very good). And now, IMPORTANT about the sound, if you're buying blindly, keep in mind that these headphones aren't about embellishing the sound. In the attached photo, there's a comparison with popular Sony ones that everyone seems to like (I also listened to them when choosing, but I don't need noise cancellation, and subjectively I liked these more). The graph shows the Sony's bass compared to the flat AKG ones. So, if you like more booming in your ears and embellishments, these are not the headphones for you. Also, you’ll need a source to unlock their potential via cable (as with any good headphones). On the second picture, there's a comparison with Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO; very similar, right? (In some reviews, I saw people saying they felt very similar), and the Beyers are twice as expensive. I liked them too, but I needed the wireless capability, and I'm not overly picky about sound, so these became my choice. Sound Compactness Fit Materials Configuration (try quickly finding a 3.5mm to mini XLR 4-pin cable; fortunately, there are 3 in the set, so if something happens, there are spares) Holds charge well; I charge it once every one to two weeks Low latency without a wire. I tried to find latency without a wire, but seriously, even in very active games where it would be noticeable, it isn't there, which I didn't expect since I'll be playing them. Some people come across defects, but in the latest batches, there are much fewer, most often related to the cup mechanism or pivot. But think that if a few people got broken ones, doesn't mean they are all like that (but it's better to buy physically, so you can immediately check the build quality before purchase). Touch control can be annoying sometimes, but you can basically use it, at least it doesn't get in the way or get accidentally touched. |
I am not an audiophile. I don't know and don't understand these epithets. I have nothing to say about soundstage width, frequency response uniformity, PVC polymerity, and the fairness of MSRP. I just liked the "honest" and direct sound of these headphones. I bought them to replace my worn-out and morally outdated SONY MDR V55 with the purpose of listening to music at home (via EMU 0202 audio interface and the DAC-player Xduoo x3 ii (the player handles them, though it's not surprising given the low impedance). I am attaching the equalizer profile. I also recommend checking out the equalizer profiles on Reddit (oratory1990). I like their sound without obvious embellishments or biases towards the bass or treble; it feels like they just play what's recorded in the file. Package contents (extra cords of different lengths and a pouch, adapter for a wide jack). They fit well on the head, do not press, and completely surround my ears. Materials feel pleasant to the touch. They block a large portion of external noises and don't leak sound. Replaceable cables (I've seen the option online; hopefully, I won't need it). There are concerns about the durability of the rotating and folding parts, so I don't rotate or fold them. |

Sound
I am not an audiophile.
These are my second pair of over-ear headphones. The first were budget closed-back Philips SHP2500 headphones with a 40mm driver. Compared to them, the detail is significantly higher. Much more distinct high frequencies. I heard percussion, cymbals, and xylophone like never before, very naturally! The low frequencies have also become more detailed, making it easy to distinguish instruments. Bass guitar, double bass, and drums are easily distinguishable and clear.
I chose the headphones based on reviews. They are recommended as "honest, neutral," corresponding to the Harman curve. Do not let this mislead you. When people say this, they mean that the bass and high frequencies are not exaggerated, unlike some budget and mid-range headphones like JBL and Sony.
There is enough bass here; where it should be scarce, the headphones will not add more than necessary, and where the creator intended, it is present in abundance. That's all there is to it. You want to listen and re-listen in them, uncovering new nuances.
Summary
I believe the headphones are as honest as possible. They do not position themselves as super versatile. There is no waterproofing, noise cancellation, fast charging, or convenient folding mechanism. Versatility was sacrificed for high-quality sound, and that completely suits me! I am satisfied with the purchase.
