Full-size monitor headphones with open acoustic design and non-detachable cable. The manufacturer is positioned as a product of the upper price category, intended for use in recording, mixing and mastering. Also, the model should be of interest to fans of Hi-Fi acoustics who are looking for an alternative to mass-market models with a neutral, uncolored sound. Traditional for an Austrian manufacturer, this device uses complex drivers that provide a flat frequency response and neutral analytical sound.

The drivers are manufactured using Varimotion's proprietary double layer diaphragm, neodymium magnet system and flat wire voice coil. The AKG K612 PRO speakers are capable of reproducing the frequency spectrum in the range from 12 to 39500 Hz, which is almost twice the capabilities of human hearing. Thus, they can voice minor details of the recording that are inaccessible to conventional headphones.

Plus, they have optimal resistance (120 ohms), so they can work even with low-power signal sources like regular smartphones. The practical design is well adapted to active use and essentially follows the shape of other monitor models of the company, with a thin arc-shaped headband, self-adjusting webbing and massive fabric ear cushions. The weight of the structure is only 238 grams, which once again says that they are created for daily studio work. For connection to sound cards, mixing consoles and musical instruments, a strong 3-meter cable with a 3.5 mm mini-jack and a 6.3 mm adapter is provided.

The AKG K612 PRO headphones are full-size monitor headphones with an open design and a fixed cable, designed for professional studio use. While the K612 Pros are less popular than their more premium siblings in the AKG K712 Pro series, they are worth considering as they offer almost all the essential features for mixing while remaining in a more affordable price range.

Sub-bass from 12 Hz

The AKG K612 PRO is ideal for hi-fi audio connoisseurs looking for headphones with a neutral and unadulterated sound. Thanks to double-layer Varimotion membranes, they provide precise analytical sound with a smooth amplitude-frequency response over a wide frequency range (from 12 to 39500 Hz). The sound is honest and relaxed, with an emphasis on the mids and highs, while the sub-bass is less pronounced, which may not satisfy fans of genres that require strong bass.

Practical and convenient design

The design of the headphones is practical and well suited for active use. The spring steel headband, self-adjusting band and fabric ear pads provide a high level of comfort. Although the headband is a little firmer and the ear pads aren't as soft as the K712 Pro, the overall comfort level is still extremely high.
