Virtual 7.1 sound. Cardioid microphone. Multiplatform headphones.

High-quality and affordable closed-type gaming over-ear headphones with a wired connection and a retractable microphone on the headband. They are a modification of the famous Razer Kraken model. They differ in more modest overall dimensions and reduced weight (250 g). Positioned as a mid-range product aimed at users looking to purchase a quality-sounding gaming headset for extended gaming sessions.

Headphones Razer Kraken X focused on use as part of gaming systems based on personal computers, laptops and gaming consoles. They also work seamlessly with smartphones and tablets. Easily adapt to the anatomical features of the user's head, comfortable for long-term use. The Razer Kraken headphones are equipped with a high-quality unidirectional cardioid microphone with good sensitivity and a wide frequency range, which perfectly captures the voice, which can be important for heated multiplayer battles.

Dynamic drivers with a diameter of 40 mm provide high-quality sound with a pronounced low-frequency accent. The sounds of explosions and gunshots are reproduced vividly and accurately, making the headphones perfect for shooters and action games. They do a good job of playing modern popular, dance and club music. The length of the round single-sided cable is 1.3 m. A splitter (2x3-pin mini-Jack 3.5mm) is provided for connecting to a PC.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Razer Kraken X headphones are designed for gamers seeking a lightweight and comfortable experience. They feature a sleek design, retractable microphone, and good sound quality for gaming, with effective sound isolation and positioning. However, the build quality, particularly the plastic, has been criticized for being brittle, with some users experiencing cracks in the headband. The headphones are praised for their affordability and virtual 7.1 sound, although this feature is noted to work best on Windows 10. Users have reported that the headphones are not ideal for music due to their gaming-focused tuning. Despite some issues with durability and comfort over extended use, they are generally considered a good option for casual gamers, though not recommended for professional esports players or those seeking high-quality music playback.

videos that are easy to shoot, beautiful and don’t put pressure on you
beautiful, comfortable, do not put pressure on the ears, free sound
the softener is too wide and falls off the ears a little.
Buy headphones only for your computer.

An excellent model of headphones, the microphone is cool, but you should buy a Pop filter, as you can hear your breathing or making hissing sounds. The sound is not perfect, but it's ok for gaming. There is a 3D effect that helps you immerse yourself in the game, but this effect ONLY works on Windows 10, this upset me a little, since I have 8. These headphones are overpriced, but not critical. The headphones fit well on the head, but I don’t think it will be so on everyone. The sound isolation of these headphones is awesome. I don't hear any extraneous sounds, but not as expected. I hear myself deafly, and this is not normal. There is no backlight and you won’t be able to see it anyway. The microphone is turned off with a button, so you won’t stun your allies by pressing a button on the microphone. The headphones have no or no delay. I also tried headphones on PS4, the sound quality became worse, same story with the microphone.
Excellent microphone, sound, comfortable
The sound on consoles is bad, so you need to buy these headphones only for the computer

Luxurious headphones

I was looking for gaming headphones for a peaceful gaming experience, to drown out the surrounding world and immerse myself in the virtual one completely. I chose these because they are simple, don't look like a spaceship, and don't have bright, annoying colors, plus the size and weight are just right, and the ability to hide the microphone was actually one of the key factors in my decision, as I don't use voice communication, I prefer solo play, but I wanted the option to be there just in case. They are very comfortable on the head, after 2 hours of gaming, my ears don't get overheated or feel pressured like with my Marshals, which I use for listening to music. These are not suited for music, as mentioned in a review above - "tailored and tuned for gaming," which is true, but after all, these headphones are marked as gaming. The cable length is quite sufficient, the volume control and microphone toggle button are on the body, which I find more convenient as you don't have to search for the controller on the cord. The shape of the headphones and the headband is comfortable and easy to adjust for the head, they provide decent sound isolation, not as much as in-ear headphones, of course, but quite adequate for home gaming. The positioning in games works well; you can hear where someone is running from, where shots are coming from, etc., in terms of gaming, there are no issues with them. Overall, after three months of use, I haven't found any downsides - the sound is good, they don't overheat the ears, they're compact, lightweight, and made of quality plastic. I recommend them for casual gamers, but of course not suitable for professional esports players =)

Release the Kraken!

In 2019, Razer released a new version of its famous Razer Kraken headset. The novelty differs from the original in more modest dimensions (weight is only 250 g) and a very tempting official price tag of $50. The main innovation is support for eight-channel (7.1) sound. Well, the sound has changed a lot, if in the old Kraken everything was sharpened for games and it was full of urine, Kraken X sound more subtle and balanced. The bass does not swell, shading all other frequencies, the middle is heard well, the upper frequencies are well detailed. By the standards of headsets under $100, they sound just fine (namely, in games and movies, music is not their forte), so there was no particular desire to include “multi-channel sound” in them. As in other inexpensive models, it sounds lousy and is added rather for show.

Proven design

In terms of design, nothing has changed. Razer did not reinvent the wheel and we have the well-known Kraken, only lighter and with a couple of small visual differences. The microphone of the headset is not ordinary, but cardioid, that is, it is more sensitive to the voice of the user than to the noise around. It picks up the voice best when it is parallel to the mouth and not under the nose or chin. Install it just like that and the voice quality will pleasantly surprise your teammates.

Ergonomics is not an empty phrase

The body and headband are made from a durable thermoplastic that is resilient enough to form the basis for the headphone frame. Headphones are pleasant to wear for a long time. They don't pinch, but the fit is secure. Faux leather ear pads are moderately deep with memory foam. From them we have dual impressions, on the one hand they are quite comfortable, on the other hand, the ears in the heat instantly sweat in them. And they can't be replaced if they get torn, so you'll have to handle them carefully. True, Razer is confident in the quality, so they give a two-year warranty.
