Active monitors

 

— all monitor speakers have an almost perfectly flat frequency response and almost no distortion in the sound. Due to this, they can be used to control the quality of the signal: such a speaker will accurately transmit both the main signal and distortions introduced due to the imperfection of the amplifier, installation flaws, etc. Such models are indispensable for sound studios, but are poorly suited for home use — firstly, because they do not muffle distortion, as home acoustics can do, and secondly, because of the use of specialized interfaces.
