Anyway, the meaning of such a design is to minimize the contact area of the speaker with the surface below it. This, in turn, increases the pressure at the points of contact and minimizes the so-called parasitic oscillations — vibrations transmitted from the speaker to the floor. Acoustic spikes are considered an almost indispensable element of equipment for outdoor Hi-Fi class acoustics — without such equipment, the mentioned parasitic vibrations can irreparably spoil the sound of high-end speakers and negate all their advantages.
