Acoustic systems with electrostatic emitters
— an emitter, the action of which is based on the oscillation of an ultralight membrane between two stator gratings, to which an acoustic signal is applied. Such a radiator looks like a characteristic thin panel, of a rather large size (usually elongated in height). The electrostatic principle of operation allows to achieve an extremely low level of distortion and high sound fidelity, unattainable on conventional dynamic acoustics. At the same time, such pleasure is not cheap: not only are the speakers themselves difficult to manufacture and expensive, they also require a premium amplifier equipped with an output transformer. Also, the electrostatic radiator does not cope well with the lower frequency range, but this is just not critical — it can be supplemented with a traditional dynamic radiator without noticeable damage to the sound quality.
