— permanent or water-resistant markers with a mild formula and a fine tip, designed for writing on a disc’s lacquer layer without risking damage to the reflective layer. Water–alcohol-based inks with a neutral pH are optimal: they dry quickly, don’t erode the lacquer, and don’t bleed across the surface, whereas aggressive solvents and hard tips can, over time, cause micro-cracks or clouding of the mark. It’s best to write on the side recommended by the manufacturer (printable/label), avoid heavy pressure and the edge of the inner hub. The practice is simple: degrease the surface, write in a single pass, cap the marker, store horizontally — this way the mark stays high-contrast and the disc remains unharmed.
