PCI-E v4.0

— the latest (as of the beginning of 2021) version of the PCI-E interface widely used (newer standards are only being introduced into production). In terms of throughput, it surpasses the previous version by 2 times, providing about 2 GB / s per line; accordingly, 16 lanes (PCI-E 16x), which are standard for graphics cards, provide slightly less than 32 GB/s.

The use of PCI-E 4.0 (as of the same year 2021) is typical mainly for fairly advanced graphics cards, including top ones (although there are exceptions). However, note that for the normal operation of such an adapter, the connection slot on the motherboard must also support a PCI-E version of at least 4.0.
