Asus ROG Strix Delta is a series of closed-type gaming headsets with proprietary ASUS Essence speakers, a mutable microphone, support for Hi-Res audio and an optional DAC. The history of the series began in 2018, when the market began to capture the USB C interface, capable of simultaneously transmitting audio and video data while simultaneously charging the device. Another feature was the signature triangular bowls, which have remained virtually unchanged since then. Otherwise, the boundaries of the series have blurred slightly, and over the almost 6 years of its existence, it has also released a pair of Delta Core headsets with a regular audio cable, Delta S Wireless with a built-in DAC and wireless receiver, as well as an unusual and rather controversial ROG Delta S Animate model with built-in cups animated LEDs.
Otherwise, Delta headsets have many similarities with many of their brothers in the ROG line. Understanding that comfort and ergonomics are the key to success, they optimize the design and body kits as much as possible, using a durable metal base with a pleasant soft-touch coating and high-quality ear pads made of leatherette or velor. The convenient swivel bowls with optimal placement of controls deserve special praise. The average weight of Delta is about 300 grams, however, due to the successful optimization of the design, they are not particularly burdensome, put pressure on the head and do not make you want to throw them away after a couple of hours of play. If there is backlighting, it is neat and unobtrusive.
Similarities with the ROG Strix series can also be seen in terms of sound. This is not surprising, because they use the same dynamic ROG Essense drivers, which are adjusted depending on the situation. Therefore, all representatives of this series sound rich, bright and natural by the standards of gaming headsets, performing well in a wide variety of gaming genres, and are also quite suitable for listening to music. It’s not for nothing that Asus constantly emphasizes support for Hi-Res audio and MQA, and also talks in detail about the characteristics of the built-in DACs. In general, all representatives of the Delta series claim “premium class” status; the price of the younger Delta Core model starts at $80, and for the older Delta S Animate with a built-in amplifier you will have to pay about $400.
