Shrugs can be performed with free weights — dumbbells or a barbell; therefore, by definition, this type of exercise is indicated for all Smith machines (see "Product type"). However, there are also weight-and-block models — strength training machines, all-in-one machines— with such an option; in them, the system of lower blocks is usually responsible for creating the load.
