— in ducted air conditioners, the indoor unit is installed behind a false ceiling or in a wall and is completely hidden. Conditioned air is supplied through a system of air ducts that can be directed to several rooms at once. Thus, several rooms can be cooled by one indoor unit at once — for example, cabinets in an office room; this can be a good alternative to a wall-mounted or similar type of multi-split system. And if the ducted model itself belongs to the category of multi-splits, this gives even greater features for covering extensive ventilation systems. For example, indoor units can be installed one per floor in a multi-storey building.

The main disadvantage of this option is the need for air ducts and the complexity of installation in their absence. In addition, unlike systems of the “1 indoor unit per 1 room” format, the duct unit delivers air of the same temperature to all serviced premises, with virtually no possibility of separate adjustment (more precisely, such an adjustment would require additional equipment, and still its capabilities would be very limited).
