— an input that allows the synthesizer to receive MIDI signals (MIDI events) from an external device such as another synthesizer or digital instrument, computer, etc.Each MIDI event contains information about the note number, as well as the duration, strength and speed of the keystroke; such signals are sent to the control electronics of the synthesizer, which generates the desired sound. At the same time, we note that MIDI signals do not contain data about the timbre — in other words, a MIDI signal can be played back on any "instrument", depending on the settings. With a MIDI input, the instrument can, for example, be used as a recording device for another synthesizer that does not have its own sequencer or its necessary functions; broadcast the accompanying part to this input and also reproduce it using the instrument itself; switch MIDI signals through the MIDI thru output (see the relevant paragraph), etc.
