How to choose a motherboard?Motherboard is the main part of any computer. Here's how to choose the right one for work, play and entertainment
Model overview based on user reviews
The Asus PRIME B450M-K II motherboard is a reliable and affordable choice for home desktops or basic gaming PCs. It features all the necessary connectors and an intuitive BIOS suitable for both beginners and advanced users. The board supports overclocking and includes an M.2 PCIE 4x slot, making it a versatile option. While it lacks built-in Wi-Fi, this is a minor drawback considering its price point. Users appreciate its stability and the extensive settings available, although many find the default setup sufficient for their needs. The motherboard is compatible with a range of Ryzen processors and supports up to 64GB of RAM, making it ideal for both work and gaming without the need for overclocking. Overall, it is a reliable and cost-effective option for those seeking a straightforward and efficient motherboard.

Bought as a replacement for an old platform on LGA1155. It works with an R5 3600 and 2x8GB 3200MHz. I chose between this and the TUF Gaming on A520, and opted for the Prime, as the additional 2 power phases and lighting were unnecessary for me, and I have no plans for exceeding 64GB of RAM. It's more than enough for both work and gaming without any experiments with overclocking. Previously, my motherboards were exclusively Gigabyte, but this one matches it in terms of PCB thickness and contacts.
All the necessary connectors are there, intuitive for beginners and advanced BIOS users, price for the current B450 with overclocking support, M.2 PCIE 4x
I would like built-in Wi-Fi, but this is already nit-picking for such a price

The company speaks for itself, not expensive and reliable.

Took in February 2021 about 1800 UAH. During the use of any problems or complaints arose. Everything is stable, the BIOS is understandable (Russified), there are a lot of settings (although I don’t use them). I took it because Asus is a reliable company - set it and forgot it. (AMD 3350 g, 16 GB of RAM, hdd Toshiba 1TB + (m2) ssd adata xpg s5 256GB, PSU Chiftek tps 500W). Just what you need for home or office. I did not indulge in overclocking, I do not see the point.

Between generations

ASUS Prime B450M-K II is an updated version of one of the most affordable motherboards with the AM4 socket. There are practically no changes in the design, but the volume of the BIOS chip has been increased to ensure compatibility with all Ryzen processors, from the 1000th to the 5000th series, without the need for a firmware update. The power supply system is designed according to the 4 + 2 phase scheme: four are responsible for the processor cores, and two are for the integrated graphics. There are no radiators on the VRM.

Overcompensation

The board has only two RAM slots, but supports frequencies over 4000 MHz and a total capacity of up to 64 GB. The M.2 NVMe SSD and x16 video card slots operate on the third generation of PCI-Express, due to the B450 chipset. However, support for new PCIe 4.0 video cards is partially compensated by Resizable BAR technology, which helps use video memory more efficiently.

Digital or analog

There are three video outputs for connecting monitors: digital HDMI and DVI, as well as analog VGA. The only thing missing for complete versatility is DisplayPort. If necessary, the integrated video core can be overclocked by several hundred megahertz via the Precision Boost Overdrive menu. But what can really be considered a drawback of the Prime B450M-K II is only one connector for a case fan.
