Flagship high performance 16-core desktop processor based on the Zen 3 microarchitecture (Vermeer core, 7nm). Designed for installation in motherboards equipped with AMD AM4 processor socket and AMD 500 series chipsets (compatibility with motherboards based on B450/X470 chipsets depends on the manufacturer). It is the top representative of the third generation of the 2020 AMD Ryzen family of consumer CPUs.
Unlike the 16-core model of the second generation, this processor has improved internal design (the transition to a two-chip layout has reduced inter-core delays) and significantly improved architecture of functional blocks, which increased specific performance (up to + 19% IPC). Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) technology allows each of the 16 physical cores of the AMD Ryzen 9 Vermeer processor to run two threads simultaneously (up to 32 threads).
This CPU is suitable for creating the ultimate performance multi-purpose PC, top-end gaming system or workstation. Easily cope with resource-intensive tasks of processing multimedia content (editing and compressing ultra-high resolution video, working with ultra-detailed photos, etc.). I bought it for 15 thousand in the winter of 2021. Even now, the processor is competitive. Yes, it consumed 170 Watts at peak moments for me, averaging 110 in very demanding games. But paired with a good graphics card, which I don't have, it can perform well. For its die size and at its time, it is very powerful There are no miracles, and a bottleneck can occur at 26-30 CPU usage in SOME modern games. A wonderful stone, many cores that are beautiful. The price has stayed the same for 2 years, which is pleasing. The main thing is to get a decent motherboard with good power. Everything else will work perfectly. There are almost never any lags or problems, which makes me very happy because on my old laptop these problems came with Intel on 7700. I installed air cooling, Dark Rock 4, and everything is perfect. I've never seen more than 70 degrees even in summer. The main thing is to clean it carefully since it's been 16 months without changing the thermal paste, so the only downside is the risk of damaging the pins during this process. Hopefully, everything will be okay. Price and quality. Dismantling is a bit risky. |
