Wide frequency range, long battery life, active noise cancellation, wireless charging case, gesture control.

The first flagship TWS headphones from the eminent German brand Beyerdynamic, which can be called experimental. The essence of the experiment is to transfer the professional monitor sound of the company's popular overhead models into the plane of tiny in-ear headphones. Free Byrds are equipped with a state-of-the-art Bluetooth receiver from Qualcomm, which minimizes losses during wireless sound transmission, and 10 mm drivers boast the ability to play in an extended frequency range (10 - 22000 Hz) and have an extremely low harmonic distortion coefficient (< 0.1%).

In addition to this, the electronics hidden in tiny cases are friends with the aptX Adaptive codec, and the headphones come with 5 types of different tips that differ in the degree of fit in the ear (note: there are sports tips) and acoustic characteristics. Beyerdynamic Free Byrd belongs to the upper price segment and is designed for people looking for great sounding TWS headphones that are in no way inferior to the market leaders.

In particular, an advanced adaptive noise reduction (ANC) system with support for an alternative transparent mode is implemented here. If not needed, ANC can be turned off, relying entirely on the passive noise isolation of the in-ear nozzles. For phone calls, the headphones use high-quality microphones with support for advanced Clear Voice Capture noise reduction technology. Claimed battery life is an impressive 11 hours. The included carrying and charging case can make up for 2 more cycles. Support for fast charging allows you to extend their operating time by 1 hour in 10 minutes. The case of the headphones is protected from accidental ingress of moisture according to the IPX4 standard, so the headphones, among other things, are positioned as sports ones.

Beyers as always, super sound, smart functions do not work. It would be better if they weren't there.

The best sound on the market for instrumental rock and metal music. Emphasis on mid frequencies, deep lows, detailed and non-hissing highs. Slightly lacking in soundstage, perfect in 2024 otherwise.
The best sound on the market. Needs charging once a month, holds 6-10 hours per charge. This can be done 3-4 times with the case. A total of 50-60 hours of music. Fits well, large set of eartips. High-quality non-odorous materials.
For me, this isn't a downside since I don't use it. I don't know why noise cancellation was added, you could say it's non-existent. It's kind of there, but not only does it hardly work, it also significantly degrades the sound quality. As a result, it needs to be kept off, which can be done through the app. The controls are not intuitive, 1 tap pauses, a long press switches the noise cancellation. You might accidentally remove the earbud and change modes, and you can only turn off noise cancellation through the app. On the iPhone, the app frequently needs to be restarted because it doesn't always display accurate information, and only starts working properly after a restart.
