Flagship model of branded in-ear wireless Hi-Res headphones with high autonomy, built-in microphone, active noise cancellation (ANC) system and support for high-quality audio codec LDAC. They are positioned as a 2023 premium class product, aimed at demanding mobile users who frequently and extensively use headphones in locations with unfavorable acoustic backgrounds (transport, busy city streets, noisy shopping centers, etc.).
The high-quality sound of the Sony WF-1000XM5 headphones is ensured by the built-in DSP processor and advanced Dynamic Driver X speakers, which provide playback of an extended frequency range from 20 Hz to 40 kHz (only when using the LDAC codec). The wireless Bluetooth 5.3 interface guarantees fast connection and impeccable connection stability with gadgets, including pairing with multiple devices simultaneously via Multipoint technology.
The advantages also include optimized ergonomics and reliable fit in the ear canal during active movements, including gym workouts. Convenient touch controls allow for easy and quick switching between full or partial (intelligent) acoustic transparency modes. The headphones offer exceptionally high autonomy for this form factor, providing up to 12 hours of music listening without ANC (up to 8 hours with ANC).

These headphones can switch between two devices, but in some cases this was not enough for me. They protruded from the ears, making them uncomfortable to use while lying down. The ear cups absorbed oil and sweat over time, requiring regular care. In transparent mode, noise was audible in the microphones, although it was not noticeable when listening to music or talking. So, we finally said goodbye to those sleepyheads. Used them since April. After seeing a new model released by one of the leading manufacturers, I didn't hesitate to sell these Sony. They were picked up the next day. We just couldn't get along with them. So, my impressions during this time. The first and perhaps most important is their fit in the ears. It’s quite deep. And only a few reviews mention this. Not the ones that only rave with enthusiasm and rainbow unicorns. Reviews are usually in English, there are more of them, and they are more detailed. They mention the discomfort of the fit. So, I tried to combat this fit with ear tips. The foam ones were dismissed after 2 hours. I can withstand them for 1, at most 2 hours in the ears. Then it hurts like hell. Really unpleasant. Then I picked some silicone ear tips. Ordered latex ones from AliExpress. By the way, there are tons of ear tip options for Sony there. Why do you think that is? It felt okay after that. But then another issue popped up. The deep fit results in a long stem. The earbud is quite heavy. And when you walk, especially if you walk energetically, this silicone ear tip clicks with every step! If you run, it’s terrible, constant clicking in the ears. Installing really small ear tips helped to solve the problem. But then they fall out of the ears. A dead-end situation for me. Foam tips would solve the issue, but they're really unpleasant. Plus, I should add that the sound is really mediocre. One driver probably can't handle it all. At home, I also have Soundcore Liberty 4, and they sound better. Especially with complex compositions where there are many highs. More intense. The Sony brand allows you to sell very profitably on the secondary market. Ambyushuri. Sound. App. Price. |
I'm not an audiophile but... the top Sony sound, to put it mildly, very bad! The sound is like from a bucket! I wanted to replace my Soundkore Liberty 4 with these Sonys, but if you compare them even at basic settings, Sony loses to Ankers! Most likely the reason is that Sony has 1 driver and it just cannot... And I’m not an audiophile, but I hear a significant difference in sound and it’s not in favor of Sony. Ankers have a cleaner and more vibrant sound. At any settings. No matter how I adjusted those Sonys, I never got a sound similar to Ankers. The only thing I liked about Sony is the app, unlike the something that Ankers have. I used them for a couple of days, going to make a return. As for the earpads, I won’t even mention very specific sensations, maybe the ears will get used to them but you have to wear them, and I have no desire to wear Sonys. An option might be to replace them with silicone. My summary: I do not recommend it. More hype and advertising, sound quality is very average. By the way, didn't understand the advertised noise cancellation, it made no difference whether it was on or off. Dodadok is a super standard! Rise up. Harshness to sound.
