I installed it as standard on my 60D. Very pleased. The image is "fixed Canon quality." Not super fast, but very reliable at hitting the target. I mainly got it for group portraits and the like. For head-and-shoulder shots, I have the 85/1.8. Absolutely great. The Tamron 17-50/2.8 is on the bench for now. It's actually good too, versatile and reliable; I won't sell it—sometimes I need the zoom. I'll let it hang on my veteran 450D. Affordable, small, sharp, beautiful picture, predictable. HA is annoying, the rest, in my opinion, are nitpicks—like buzzing, you haven't heard how my Tamron 17-50/2.8 "buzzzzzes". use Canon 35mm f/2.0 EF USM few months |
If you need a versatile prime lens, you can confidently buy it. I am pleased with the sharpness and autofocus accuracy. Using it on a crop sensor. Sharp from 2.0, with good sharpness at 2.5 (although the 50 f 1.8 is sharper). Accurate autofocus. No geometric distortions. Correct color reproduction. Auto white balance works better than on the zoom (17-55 f 2.8). The body is made significantly better than the 50 f 1.8. Great for portraits and full-length photos. If you take into account the pros, there are no cons. |
The lens is great, but don't buy it without an official warranty. I bought it on ROZETKA, and at home, upon inspection, I found a front focus issue. When I reached out to ROZETKA, they told me I needed to send the lens to them, and then they would conduct an examination within 14 days to decide if the lens is faulty or not, whether to refund me or send it for adjustment. I declined their service due to the lengthy process, and considering that I don't live in Kyiv, it would take twice as long, and most importantly, I don't know with what result. Another detail: on the ROZETKA website in the service section, addresses of official CANON service centers are listed, though it's not possible to contact them directly with a warranty from ROZETKA. I left the same review on ROZETKA, but they didn't publish it. The lens is great, but don't buy it without an official warranty. It depends on the model, mine has front focus. |
