Video reviews

An affordable member of the Art lens series, which includes high-quality models with improved optical performance, is compatible with all major SLR mounts (including the less common Pentax K and Sigma SA). But this is not the main thing — the key advantage of the lens is the high maximum aperture of f / 1.4.

Compatibility

The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Art is designed to work in conjunction with APS-C format cameras. In tandem with full-frame cameras, the resolution of the lens is also quite enough to draw a detailed picture. However in this case, obvious traces of vignetting will be visible along the edges of the frame. Along with the darkening of the edges of the frame, the picture can be spoiled by the presence of chromatic aberrations that occur when shooting at the most open apertures.

9 petals

No minor flaws that can be easily corrected in post-processing photos can not be compared with the excellent level of sharpness of the lens. Detail in the centre of the frame is commendable from wide open, and the edges are razor-sharp when you close down to f/2.5-2.8. The diaphragm consists of 9 blades, which has a positive effect on the rendering of beautiful bokeh.

must have

Everything would be even better if the lens were not equipped with a “thoughtful” autofocus. In static scenes, it aims at the subject quickly and accurately, but in dynamic scenes, the autofocus drive sometimes misses. You can forgive their model at least for the fact that there are practically no real alternatives to it. None of the potential competitors can boast of such a practical combination of convenient focal length, high aperture and cost.
