The top lens of the Art series with one of the most popular focal lengths in portrait photography — 85 mm. The background behind the subject is effectively blurred by a 9-bladed aperture that opens up to a maximum of f/1.4. The minimum aperture of the lens is f/16. To improve image quality and minimize the appearance of spurious effects (chromatic aberrations, glare and reflections, etc.), two low-dispersion elements have been added to the optical design of the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM A, and a Super Multi-Layer coating has been applied to the front lens . Also in the lens body there was a place for a quick drive of the Hyper Sonic AF automatic focus system. The large front lens of the model can be fitted with a filter with a thread diameter of 86 mm. The lens is compatible with the native Sigma SA mount, Canon EF and Nikon F systems.

The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art is an excellent choice for portrait photography among third-party lenses for the Sony FE mount. It is part of the Art series, known for its artistic qualities and preferred by professionals and keen amateur photographers.

High aperture ratio

The main advantage of the lens is its f/1.4 aperture, which provides excellent shooting in low light conditions. This is complemented by the beautiful bokeh created by the 9-blade aperture.

Advanced optical design

The optical design features 14 elements in 12 groups with two low dispersion elements to eliminate chromatic aberrations. The front lens is coated with a Super Multi-Layer to reduce flare and reflection, and the Hyper Sonic AF motor ensures fast, accurate focusing.

Heavy design

One of the disadvantages of the model is its significant weight (more than 1.1 kg) and dimensions, inherited from the optics for SLR cameras. Its improved version, Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art, is lighter, but has a plastic body instead of metal. Both models are decent options, but the choice between them depends on preferences in weight and materials.
